How should an Android digital signage board be selected?
Choose a signage board by the number and type of displays, media decoding workload, CMS software, network connection, enclosure temperature and required operating schedule. Screen resolution alone is not enough to define the correct platform.
Signage project requirements
| Area | Questions to answer |
|---|---|
| Display | HDMI, LVDS, eDP or MIPI; single, mirrored or independent output? |
| Media | Codec, bitrate, resolution, orientation and simultaneous layers? |
| CMS | Required Android version, SDK, device owner and remote control functions? |
| Network | Ethernet, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth or cellular connection? |
| Operations | Scheduled power, watchdog, auto-start, recovery and OTA? |
Which tests matter before deployment?
Test the actual content playlist, panel and touch hardware, network recovery, scheduled operation, storage endurance, thermal condition and power interruption behavior. A short desktop demonstration does not replace an enclosure-level endurance test.
When is multi-display support truly independent?
Independent display operation requires confirmation at board, BSP and application levels. Verify the supported connector combination, resolution, orientation, hardware composition limits and whether the CMS can address each display as required.
What should buyers request from a supplier?
Request the exact model, hardware revision, interface drawing, supported firmware, panel compatibility information, thermal conditions, accessory list, lifecycle status and sample acceptance plan.
